Elephant Symbolism

In feng shui, the symbol of the elephant can bring energies of beauty, silent power, wisdom, strength, kindness, fertility, good luck, success and majesty. Even though elephants are the largest land animals living on the planet today (and one of the strongest, too), its energy feels invariably kind and wise. The elephant symbol is very easy to use and can offer many different benefits throughout the home or office.

The main rule for placing an elephant in your home is to always have the elephant facing into the room. If you place an elephant facing your front door, then the elephant's trumpeted announcement will go right back out the door and your life.

The following are some of the more common applications of the use of elephants in feng shui:

  • Front Door for Luck and Strength
  • Guardians of Doorways for Protection
  • Bedroom for Love and Faithfulness
  • Children and Family Sectors for Bonding
  • Bedroom for Fertility
  • Children's Bedroom for Knowledge
  • To Balance Elements
  • North Sector for Career

More detailed information about the placement you can read here.

Feng Shui Monkey Meaning

The monkey is one of the Chinese astrology animals. In many instances, it can bestow auspicious benefits to those wishing to use it as a feng shui symbol. Those with this sign are very social and make great friends. They can act impulsively, and this can be to their detriment. However, the monkey is known to be very clever and talented and can outwit opponents.

You can add a monkey symbol to your feng shui design to assist in overcoming obstacles. Place your favorite figurine in the afflicted sector to reap the auspicious energies it attracts.

The symbolism is often displayed in specific sectors to inspire and represent various auspicious energies.

  • Southwest: This is the optimum direction for the monkey.
  • West: If monkey is your zodiac sign, you can place a statue in the west to bring fortune.

A lone monkey is often depicted holding an auspicious symbol, such as:

  • Coin: The coin is always a symbol of wealth and money. Set in the southeast sector (wealth).
  • Peach: This symbol represents a long life filled with good health. Place in the east sector (health).
  • Gold ingots: Another symbol of great wealth, set this statue in the southeast or north sector (career).

Monkey, Elephant, and Gold Coins

The combination of the monkey's intellect and the elephant's strength makes a powerful symbol that can be placed in areas that require a triumphant infusion of energy.

This depiction often shows the monkey holding gold coins while riding an elephant. This represents not just victory over challenges, but also an abundance to follow.

  • Career: If you face obstacles in achieving your career goals, place this statue in the north sector of your home, office, or desk. Make sure the elephant's trunk is raised up to trumpet your victory.
  • Wealth: If finances are worrisome, this statue set in the southeast sector will symbolize overcoming any money challenge.
  • Education: Both the elephant and monkey are smart. Place this type of statue in the northeast education sector to boost your studies or your status in educational field.

Bird Symbols

In traditional feng shui applications, birds are considered powerful symbols of new opportunities that are there for you, even in times of adversity.

Birds can also symbolize love and commitment (as in the case of Mandarin ducks), or abundance and good luck (as in the case of the peacock). Placed in your living room, the energy of birds will bring light, inspiration, and good luck to your home.

Rooster

The rooster is often used in feng shui for career advancement purposes because the Chinese word for "official," or successful business person, also means "rooster's chest." No matter which culture you come from, if you watch roosters you will notice that they tend to be quite bossy.

For career advancement purposes the image of the rooster is best placed in one's lucky feng shui direction. The rooster wakes up very early and announces the dawn of a new day and the dispersing of darkness and dark spirits, it also came to symbolize the ability to ward off evil spirits.
